Green & White Night NCHS Football 2024

Once again, on Friday, August 9, 2024, a tradition was carried on. For as long as people can remember, football season has started off with Green and White Night. Green and White night is a scrimmage in which the high school football team splits into two teams, green and white, and face each other. Over the course of the summer, New Castle’s football team traveled and scrimmaged other schools, and has put in so much time and dedication with countless hours of practice. On Friday night, they were able to show coaches, friends, and family how they worked together. We got a preview of how this season is going to be, and everyone is looking forward to it.

Over the course of the week, coaches and players were asked how they felt about the upcoming season. Right before the game, the team was told to "Play clean and play safe." Even though they were split on 2 sides, everyone had great sportsmanship and played their best.

Coach Nichols & Senior Nathan SizemoreSenior Nathan Sizemore mentioned that he was ecstatic for Green and White night and looking forward to this season.

“I want everyone to play hard, stay safe, and show everyone that we are good, and will be good.”

Assistant coach Jaymen Nicholson said, “This is a different team, different mentality, and they carry a better attitude.”

Head Coach Kyle York also believes this is a new opportunity for the team to work together, and he was looking forward to the game.

From the new underclassmen to the seniors, this team works together, facing challenges and overcoming difficulties. With many weeks of the football season ahead, we are excited to see what this team has in store.
